Once in a while, at a place not so far away, there are moments of peace, snuffing wafts of fragrant flowers and snuggling with little doggies. There is a place I recently visited on Vashon Island called, ‘Dig.’ It is this wonderful, artsy, warm and amazing nursery not too far from the Ferry dock after catching a ride across the bay from Point Defiance.

Sophie, the resident canine, has the coolest dog house that is a converted concrete storm drain pipe that keeps her cool when she chooses to take a nap yet invites little kids (and people like me) a space big enough to climb inside and marvel at the views from a doggies world. Sometimes, taking part of a day as a hiatus from the world’s pace can lead you to this little island treasure, the unique culture and lifestyle just a short boat ride away.
